Dear colleagues,
You may have seen the news that I will be leaving my role as CSS CEO at the end of March 2027, before taking up a new role as Chief Executive of North Manchester General Hospital Clinical Group.
I wanted to write to you personally because leaving CSS has not been an easy decision as it has been a genuine privilege to lead this Clinical Group and, most of all, to work alongside such talented, skilled and dedicated colleagues. Every day, teams across our Care Divisions and professions provide expertise that patients and staff across MFT rely on.
Over the past few years, I’ve been incredibly proud of what we have achieved together. From leading Critical Care through COVID, sustained diagnostic recovery and the continued development of our Community Diagnostic Centre Programme. CSS teams are able to turn ambitious ideas into real improvements for our patients.
But what I am most proud of is the people behind those achievements. One of the highlights of my year is always the CSS Star Awards. Having the chance to celebrate our brilliant teams and individuals, and hear the stories behind their work, always reminds me what a special group of people we have in CSS.
CSS plays such an important role across MFT, touching almost every part of the Trust and almost every patient pathway. Much of what you do happens behind the scenes, but MFT simply could not deliver the care it does without you.
Importantly, I’m still your CSS CEO until 31 March 2027. We have five months together and plenty still to do, and my commitment to CSS remains as strong as ever.
We also have a fantastic, experienced Senior Leadership Team and Divisional Leadership Teams who know our services and care deeply about our people and patients. I know that whatever comes next, CSS is in very good hands.
And when April comes, I’m not going far. I will still be part of the MFT family at North Manchester and will continue to work closely with many CSS colleagues in my new role.
For now, I just want to say a heartfelt thank you. Thank you for your support, for everything you do for our patients and colleagues, and for making CSS a Clinical Group I will always be incredibly proud to have been part of.
Gareth
