This week, our Critical Care education stand traded its usual clinical charts for something a little different — a full-on celebration of men’s health, in and around ICU/Critical Care/CSS.
Staff popping by were treated to a treasure trove of information and signposting, covering everything from mental wellbeing to physical health:
- Andy’s Man Club – peer support, no stiff upper lip required
- Lime Arts – because creativity is good for the soul too
- Crisis Café at Number 93 – a safe space when things get tough
- Mental Health First Aiders – trained colleagues, just a chat away
- Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) – confidential support, whenever needed
- Prostate awareness – know the signs, ask the questions
- Male breast cancer awareness – yes, it happens, and yes, it matters
- EHW MSK physiotherapy referrals – for when your back reminds you that you’re not 25 anymore
Ali Austin, Senior Sister, Ward Manager, ICU/Critical Care/CSS said:
“A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by, asked questions, and took a leaflet or two — every conversation helps chip away at the stigma and reminds us that looking after ourselves isn’t optional, it’s essential.”
Here’s to a workplace where checking in on each other is just… what we do. 😊
