Teamwork shines after lab flood

Colleagues across Blood Sciences showed outstanding teamwork and professionalism after a flooding incident in the Biochemistry laboratory at Oxford Road Campus (ORC).

A blocked drain caused significant flooding in the Autolab area, meaning the service had to be stood down for safety. Staff acted quickly to escalate the issue, keep people safe and put business continuity plans into action.

Samples were safely redirected to the Wythenshawe site, where teams stepped in to take on additional workload. This joint working meant patient care continued with minimal disruption.

Across both sites, colleagues communicated clearly, supported each other and kept services running during a very challenging situation. Many staff have since been recognised through Excellence Reports.
