Biomedical Science Day

4th June 2026 Celebrating Biomedical Science Day at MFT

Biomedical Science Day is a chance to pause and recognise the incredible impact of our Biomedical Science teams across MFT.

Behind every diagnosis, treatment plan and life‑saving intervention sits a dedicated team working with precision, pace and care. From analysing blood samples to supporting complex pathology, our colleagues in Clinical Support Services (CSS) play a vital role in patient care every single day. Their expertise often happens behind the scenes—but its impact is felt across every ward, clinic and service.

This day is about celebrating that contribution.

Recognising the people behind the science

Biomedical Scientists, laboratory technicians, support staff and wider teams bring deep technical skill, curiosity and commitment to their work. They adapt rapidly to new demands, embrace innovation and maintain the highest standards—often under pressure and against the clock.

Quite simply, MFT could not function without them.

Come and meet the teams

To mark the day, colleagues are invited to visit dedicated stands across the Trust and learn more about the breadth of Biomedical Science within MFT.

You’ll find teams showcasing their work, sharing insights and answering questions from 10am:

  • Wythenshawe – stall in ERC, run by Haematology, Histopathology and Biochemistry
  • Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH) – ORC stall in the atrium, featuring all departments

These stands are a great opportunity to:

  • See what happens behind the scenes in our labs
  • Understand the journey from sample to diagnosis
  • Connect with colleagues across specialties
  • Celebrate the innovation and teamwork within CSS

Why it matters

Biomedical Science sits at the heart of modern healthcare. It underpins around 70% of clinical decisions, yet much of this work remains unseen.

Days like this help shine a light on the expertise, dedication and teamwork that make it possible.

So whether you work closely with labs or have never stepped into one—take a moment to visit, learn and say thank you.

Because great patient care starts with great science.
