Happy International Nurses Day 👩‍⚕️💙👨‍⚕️

International Nurses Day is a chance to recognise the nurses who care for our patients and communities every single day.

Across Clinical Scientific Services – in Critical Care, Interventional Radiology, Infection Prevention and Control, Tissue Viability, Acute Care, Outreach and Pain Services – our nurses show extraordinary professionalism, kindness and resilience, often in complex and demanding circumstances.

This year’s theme, Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives, feels especially meaningful. When nurses feel supported, listened to and valued, they bring their full knowledge, skill and compassion to their work.

Creating psychologically safe environments – where people feel confident to ask questions, raise concerns and share ideas – is fundamental to safe care and strong teams.

At a time of growing pressure on health services, nurses continue to hold care together with remarkable dedication. Our responsibility is to stand alongside them: to create fair and supportive workplaces, to trust their professional judgement, and to ensure their voices help shape the future of care.

Sarah Ingleby, CSs Director of nursing and Healthcare professionals said:

“Our nurses are at the heart of everything we do. Every day they combine clinical expertise with humanity, often in the most challenging situations. We are incredibly proud of the care they provide and the difference they make to patients and families. Today, and every day, we thank you for your compassion, your courage and your commitment.”

Thank you for all that you do, each and every day. 💙👩‍⚕️
