We’re proud to be partnering with NHS England’s Global Health Unit to further support colleagues from Global Majority backgrounds. As part of this, we’re launching the Global Majority Leadership Award, recognising five standout, Global Majority aspiring leaders – and nominations are now open.
Across MFT, we are proud to represent an incredible 139 national identities, with around one in four colleagues identifying as non-British. Within this, there is substantial Global Majority representation, notably from India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Egypt, Ghana and the Philippines. Our Global Majority Leadership Award aims to recognise and celebrate the excellent leadership work that our diverse staff population at MFT showcase day in, day out.
Nominees should be from a Global Majority background (e.g. African, Asian, Latin-American, Indigenous, mixed-heritage or other historically minoritised racial/ethnic backgrounds), be below Band 9 and be directly employed by the Trust. This focus recognises that many colleagues from Global Majority backgrounds are leading, influencing and delivering impact across Bands 8 and below, and these awards aim to celebrate that leadership and contribution.
Nominations must show the following:
- Positive impact
- Going above and beyond
- Inclusive and values-driven leadership
- Clear commitment to uplifting global majority communities.
Following the nomination period, our panel will shortlist five exceptional winners, each of whom will receive Trust-wide and national recognition in addition to external careers coaching funded by NHSE’s Global Health Unit.
Individuals may nominate themselves or be nominated by a colleague.
