🌟 CSS Excellence Highlights – February

This month, colleagues across CSS recognised each other for brilliant care, teamwork and kindness.

Here are some of the stories staff shared:

  • Quick action at 5am saved vital time
When an urgent out‑of‑hours radiology procedure was needed, Tamunominini Whyte and Abdul Ansari came in during the night after phone issues meant others couldn’t be reached. Their support ensured the patient was treated safely and promptly.
  • Singing and smiling to lift a patient’s day
In Cardiothoracic ICU, Afo Victor‑Orivoh brought comfort and joy to patients by singing, dancing and helping them connect to Wi‑Fi — easing anxiety during a difficult time.
  • Spotting a problem before it reached a patient
Hannah Griffiths prevented a medication error by identifying incorrect labelling on a drug, ensuring safe care through careful attention to detail.
  • Keeping children calm during complex scans
The Radiology (Children’s) team supported an 8‑year‑old with a tumour by adapting the MRI process, avoiding a general anaesthetic and speeding up treatment.
  • Stepping up in an unfamiliar ICU
Throughout February, staff including Ibukun, Tendai, Abin, Jeswin, Ciji, Lashly, Rupa and Alice travelled to other hospital sites to support safe staffing during busy periods — showing flexibility and real compassion.
  • Leading safely during chaos
Aji Pramod managed Ward 14 through a high‑pressure shift — creating beds, coordinating with multiple teams and personally helping transfers so patients weren’t delayed.

Thank you to everyone who submitted nominations — and to everyone living our values every day.
