In recognition of Freedom to Speak Up Month, we are pleased to share a series of promotional activities designed to encourage openness, support psychological safety, and strengthen our speaking-up culture across the organisation.
We invite all colleagues to explore the initiatives and resources available throughout the month.

Let’s light up the Trust and show our support by wearing something green!💚 Wear Green Wednesday – 15th October 💚
Following on from last year’s powerful theme of Listen Up, this October, the National Guardian’s Office is spotlighting Follow Up in Action, a call to turn listening into meaningful change.
At MFT, we’re proud to mark the month by showcasing best practice, breaking down the fear of futility, a fear that nothing will change, and demonstrating the real impact of Speaking Up. Your voice matters – and we want to celebrate it!
🎨 Get Creative! We’re inviting you to share your creativity—whether it’s artwork, poetry, stories, or music—that captures why Speak Up, Listen Up, and Follow Up truly matter.
All entries will be judged by our Freedom to Speak Up Guardians, and the winner will receive a small prize as a token of appreciation.
🚶 FTSU Walkabouts Our Guardians will be out and about throughout October. If you’d like us to visit your team or department, please get in touch—we’d love to hear from you.
For more information, check the FTSU intranet page from 30th September for resources and more info!
We’re also launching Follow Up workshops for all managers, on how to ensure meaningful feedback is shared when staff speak up to you.
Let’s make this month a celebration of courage, compassion, and change.
